Poolside Emergency Responder

1. Responding to swimming pool incidents in smaller, shallow pools (under 1.5m)

2. Performing CPR and essential first aid

3. Aquatic rescue techniques, including reaching and wading rescues

4. Basic spinal injury management in a pool environment

5. Understanding risk management and safety protocols for non-lifeguarded pools

.6 Training aligned with National Occupational Standards, HSE guidance, and BS EN 15288 Part 2

Learners are assessed through continuous observation of practical skills and a multiple-choice theory test. To pass the course, candidates must demonstrate competence in all rescue, CPR, first aid, and spinal management skills, as well as show understanding of key safety procedures.

1. Learners must be at least 16 years old.

2. Must be able to swim and demonstrate basic water confidence.

3. Should be physically capable of performing pool rescues, CPR, and first aid skills.

4. Attendance is required for the full duration of the course.
