Mark Phillips

From school, Mark started his career as an apprentice plumbing, Heating & Gas engineer. After obtaining full accreditation, he continued to gain knowledge in this field of work. This continued until he attended Greenwich Maritime University and became the youngest lecturer in this field for NWK College in Kent at the age of 26.

Mark Continued to teach his knowledge up to the age of 40, moving around various colleges until he ended up settling in wales. He then started his own Plumbing & Heating Company, predominantly working within the leisure / holiday park industry. However, there was one holiday park that wanted Mark to undertake all aspects of engineering. Recognising this, he shut down his business and became employed so he could gain new experiences and knowledge in pool plant and pool plant operations.

Whilst becoming qualified in pool plant operations, He met Andy Rudkin (His Pool Plant Ops Tutor) and felt that with his teaching background, Engineering and water knowledge, this would be a great opportunity to start teaching again.

Mark Heighton

As a passionate climber, mountaineer, and expedition leader, I bring a wealth of experience in group development and leadership. Throughout my career, I have witnessed the profound impact that the outdoors can have on mental health. This understanding has led me to recognise that mental health is not only vital in extreme environments but is also relevant to everyday life, especially in the workplace.

Motivated by this insight, I completed a Mental Health First Aid Course, which significantly enhanced my awareness and ability to support those facing mental health challenges. This experience inspired to become a course facilitator myself to help raise awareness of mental health in the workplace. By combining my leadership background with a commitment to mental wellbeing, I aim to empower employers to foster healthier, more supportive working environments.
